North American Safe Boating Awareness Week (SBAW) will take place across Canada from May 16 to May 22, 2015. The purpose of Safe Boating Awareness Week is to promote safe boating practices to the estimated 16 million recreational boaters in Canada who head out in canoes and kayaks, sailboards and sailboats, fishing boats, personal watercraft and powerboats.

 

Media involvement and support is essential to getting the "Safe Boating" message out to the recreational boating public. Your assistance has proven extremely effective, with the 2014 Safe Boating Awareness Week Campaign surpassing 100,000,000 impressions across Canada from April through July.

 

To assist you, the Canadian Safe Boating Council site contains valuable information and media content for print, radio and television. This prepared editorial content is downloadable from the Materials page and will be useful in developing your “Safe Boating” coverage. The materials that are available are ideal for use not only for Safe Boating Awareness Week but also throughout the season.

The CSBC has prepared PSA's that address key areas of safe boating practices and a contact link for local boating safety experts to interview.

The CSBC has created 4 30-second PSA's, along with some additional safety segments, background information about boating safety in Canada and a contact link for local boating safety experts.

The CSBC has created a number of print ads (B&W / colour), a series of informative articles in a variety of lengths, background information about boating safety in Canada and a contact link for local boating safety experts. There are also some sample layouts for boating safety supplements.
